An international dance festival based in Miyazaki, featuring performances, workshops, and exchange programs by artists from Japan and around the world.
"The Sky is Vast! Miyazaki International Dance Festival" (SoraDan for short) celebrates its 4th year in 2026.
Our home, CandY Theater, has long been a hub for "Sousaku-Dance" (Creative Dance)—a practice that nurtures both mind and body—alongside the cutting edge of contemporary performance. Building on this legacy, SoraDan creates a space for new encounters, connecting Miyazaki to Japan and the world.
The heart of this festival is Sousaku-Dance.
Dance is an art form that reaches beyond words, touching sensations and presence that have yet to be named. Whether through witnessing a performance, moving together, or simply sharing the atmosphere of the moment, SoraDan is a place where people, communities, and the world connect—where the everyday and the creative intertwine.
Through diverse forms of dance, we invite everyone—children and adults, locals and visitors from abroad—to share in the experience of seeing, expressing, and connecting.
Whether you come to watch a performance or join a workshop, each person encounters dance in their own way, connecting with others and discovering new perspectives within themselves. SoraDan is where these individual experiences flow together.
Our mission is to open up that feeling through dance, right here in Miyazaki. By continuing this festival, we hope to help Miyazaki grow into an even more vibrant, international, and culturally rich region—not just for the next 10 years, but for the next 100 years to come.
